The hanbo (Japanese cane or short stick) is a versatile and important modern self-defense tool. In this last of a three course long series, To-Shin Do Shihan James Kentoshi Norris presents core hanbo skills and examples of how to use them in both modern contexts and historical battlefield situations. The two core skills presented in this course are how to use the hanbo to create choking techniques to subdue an attacker, and how to use the hanbo to grind into targets to create pain and distraction. When combined with the two other courses in this series, students will have a detailed overview of the foundations of the hanbo and an important addition to their self-defense toolbox.
